Despite braving the heavy rains in Metro Manila to travel to Angeles City and having to sacrifice a day's wage at work, I am very much happy to be invited once again to the UP Aguman's annual College Entrance Exam Review (CEER).
Accepting invitations to lecture in events such as the CEER is one of my "detours" from my hectic office schedule, as well as an avenue for me to teach because I'm out of the profession for more than 4 years now. I see to it that I give time and effort to be ready in the lecture. It's also some sort of a "charity work" for us lecturers since we don't get paid - the sheer happiness and satisfaction in sharing what we know to these kids who want to pass the UPCAT or other entrance exams.
After the CEER, the congratulations and gratitude are in order.
Congratulations to the UP Aguman for hosting yet another successful CEER! Thank you for your trust and confidence in me as a Math lecturer of your review. My apologies if I always beg for overtime - I really wanted to share as much as I can aside from discussing the items. But at least my presentation clicked, with all the "additives" that really caught the attention of the students. It's the first time that I made a slide presentation to save time in writing and discussing stuff on the board. Now, I can plan for more improvements for the next CEER - and more "pakulo" to boot.
To those who attended, thanks for the attention, the curiosity, the participation, the smiles and laughs, and the applause! I hope you've learned something from yours truly despite the time constraint. An hour and a half is really NOT enough to discuss a 40-item exam with explanations. At least this is my chance to showcase the use of technology and electronic communication in supplementing what was left out in the discussions. See you in my website and my Facebook account!
Now, it's time to move forward from the CEER. For the reviewees, to prepare seriously for the UPCAT espacially in Math. For the Aguman, host the last day of the CEER (post-test) next week and prepare for their next set of acitvities (e.g, the Pautakan). And for me, get back to my work - but not leave the calling to teach behind.
CEER-iously, let's now move on to the next level. :)
